Billings Church Successful Diaper Drive

First United Methodist Church, Billlings

Update: FUMC collected more than 15,000 diapers during this second diaper drive, and they received a donation of $500.

A Billings church is again covering babies’ bottoms in love this spring.

First United Methodist Church held its first diaper drive in December 2014. It collected more than 38,000 diapers, surpassing their goal of 10,00 by quite a few diapers.

  Brian Hunter is a staff member at the church. He says the agencies that received all those diapers were incredulous;

Hunter said,” They looked at me like I was a little bit off my rocker—a little bit. But once we got the diapers to them there was a great appreciation because the money they did not have to spend to buy on diapers they were able to put into other things to cover other areas of their budget.”

The congregation wrapped up this drive on Sunday, Valentine’s Day. Hunter called it a Valentine’s present to the babies in the community.

He said those want to contribute diapers could bring them by Feb. 17 to the  church during normal business hours. The diapers most needed were newborn and 4-5.

First United Methodist Church is in downtown Billings at 2800 4th Av. North.
