Glacier Park International Airport in Kalispell will offer a week-long TSA Pre-Check enrollment pop-up event at the end of February.

TSA Pre-Check fast-tracks passengers through airport security checkpoints by clearing them ahead of time based on background checks and interviews.

The $85 membership is good for five years. Members don’t need to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts or light jackets at security checkpoints.

To enroll, flyers in the Flathead currently have to travel to Billings or Sidney, or out of state, but from February 26 through March 2, they can sign up at the airport in Kalispell.

Airport Director Robert Ratkowski says Glacier Park International hopes to build on a similar pop-up enrollment event in 2016 that signed up 587 people.

"We've already got 176 booked as of this morning," he says. "That's probably going to turn into close to 500 by the time we get to the actual event."

Ratkowski says Pre-Check can help alleviate long lines, especially during the airport’s busy tourism season. Last summer Glacier Park International boarded a record 270,000 passengers. Ratkowski expects similar numbers this year.
