Fire managers report today that 60 acres of the fire are on Albany County and 2,245 acres are on the Medicine Bow National Forest.

This is a full suppression fire, focusing first on firefighter and public safety. Other objectives are protecting and defending the structures in the fire area; and protecting the Cheyenne Wyoming’s water supply.

Incident Information System reports, firefighters are dispatched where there is a high probability of success. There are 459 personnel involved in managing of the fire, at last report.

Fire managers report yesterday that crews conducted burnouts in the areas of USFS 512 and 586B roads.

“A helicopter with aerial ignition capability assisted in areas too dangerous to use hand-ignitions. The area will continue to be patrolled for any new spot fires and hot spots.”

The fire managers and Albany County Sheriff’s Department are continuing to evaluate today if evacuation orders for Rambler and Lake Creek can safely be lifted. Evacuations will remain in effect for the communities of Keystone, lower Keystone, Moores Gulch, and scattered residences within the US Forest Service (USFS) closure area until the closure order is modified. The modification of the closure order will be based on public and firefighter safety.

Warm, dry conditions with a slight chance of afternoon showers this afternoon, and tomorrow, but wetting rains are not expected.
